Acts 2:1-13
Father, your blessing.
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together.
And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they
were.
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to
proclaim.
Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem.
At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his
own language.
They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, "Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?
Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language?
We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and
converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God."
They were all astounded and bewildered, and said to one another, "What does this mean?"
But others said, scoffing, "They have had too much new wine."

A Reading from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians
I Corinthians 12:1-11
Father, your blessing.
Now in regard to spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware.
You know how, when you were pagans, you were constantly attracted and led away to mute idols.
Therefore, I tell you that nobody speaking by the spirit of God says, "Jesus be accursed." And no one can say, "Jesus is
Lord," except by the holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.
To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the
same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another mighty deeds; to
another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues.
But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.
Praise be to God, always!
Let us be attentive to the Gospel of Life and Salvation of Our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded by the Apostle John.
John 12:15-20
The Lord Jesus said to his Apostles: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world
cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you.
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you.
